We didn't have a ton happen this week--we found a lot of potentials that we
hope will be good groundwork for next week!
We got the best news ever this week. The church released a new missionary
policy for the Seattle Temple. If you live within 90 minutes of the temple
(which we do!), you are able to schedule one day each 6 months to go to the
temple. YAY! I have missed the temple so much and the peace and tranquility
that is found there. I am anxiously looking forward to going sometimes here
in the next few months before I go home.
Our mission scripture is 3 Nephi 5:13:
*Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been
called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have
everlasting life.*
The word *disciple *means to be a strict, convinced adherent and follower.
Here, Mormon is talking and declaring who he is-his core character. He is a
convinced adherent and follower of Jesus Christ.
For all of you who love the "proofs" we learned in math class--if we use
the "Transitive Property," we can say:
Mormon is a strict, convinced adherent and follower of Christ.
Christ is a strict, convinced adherent and follower of God.
Therefore, because Mormon is a follower of Christ, he is also a follower of
God.
We can take it one step further and add ourselves to this equation.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lots of
people call me a "Mormon." I am a Mormon.
A "Mormon" is a strict, convinced adherent and follower of Christ.
Christ is a strict, convinced adherent and follower of God.
Therefore. I am a strict, convinced adherent and follower of God and of His
Son, Jesus Christ.
The phrase, "I'm a Mormon" takes on a whole new meaning when you understand
what you are saying!:)
Challenge: Say it like you mean it! I'm a Mormon!
I second Paul's declaration and invite you all to do the same:
*For **I am not ashamed of the [restored] gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. *Romans 1:16
Have a great week!
