This week has been a good one, aside from the dangerous weather. Nothing too crazy, but there were some sweet tender mercies that help remind me of how loving and mindful our Father in Heaven is of each of us individually.
This week my companion and I have decided to put a stop to gaining unnecessary mission weight. We have been working out hard as we can in the morning and the most drastic change has been our diet. We pretty much trashed anything that is every sort-of junky...basically eating stir-fry veggies seasoned with lime every day. But anyways, of course as missionaries, we don't have access to google to google what foods we should eat and what foods will help our bodies and blah blah blah. We continued to do our best and tell Heavenly Father to please consecrate our efforts because we couldn't do much. My companion and I both kept wondering and wondering hmmmm what does vitamin B12 do or this or that or this or that. What food should we eat to ______. You name it. Well, with lack of google, we didn't have answers, yet we continued faithful to our makeshift diet.
Saturday night I felt a weird urge (now of course I know it was the Spirit) tell me to shuffle through some of the ancient Ensigns that we have in our apartment. I grabbed one and opened it, flipped through a few pages and stopped on an article about the Word of Wisdom. As I read it, it explained the different food groups and what foods contain which vitamins and minerals and exactly what each does to and for your body. The Spirit just overwhelmed me. I got all the answers I wanted and more and I didn't even need google. Heavenly Father knew my companion and I were doing our best to live healthy and He provided a way for us to obtain the information we needed in a way we could receive it as missionaries.
It was such a sweet little miracle and tender mercy, but it reminded me of the love Heavenly Father has for each one of us individually. Our cares are His cares and our worries, His. No matter how big, no matter how small. I know He loves each one of you just as much as me and he blesses you daily with tender mercies. As we recognize them, we will feel His love more abundantly in our lives.
And so for the challenge this week: write down tender mercies and little blessings daily.
I do it on sticky notes during that day and at night and I still them all in my journal at the end of the week. As I have done so, I have felt His love more plainly and abundantly in my daily life. How great it is to know that I am a daughter of God:)
Have a great week!
