been here (7 rather than 6 weeks), it has sure gone by the fastest!
No fun transfer news. I will be finishing training her in Lynnwood with
Hermana Richey. Yay! I feel like we have worked really hard in this area
and have really turned things around for the better! We hope to keep up the
momentum!!
Our past week wasn't crazy out of the ordinary. We worked hard and had fun
doing it. Hermana Richey has come a long way--it is fun to watch her grow
and see how she changes and helps me as well!
Highlight of the week--church!
We got our investigator family to church after 7 long weeks of
trying--Olivia and her 3 kids [Christopher, Alexander, and Sandy]. It took
great effort and correlation with the branch members, but we got them a
ride to and from church and they were welcoming and befriended wonderfully!
(We REALLY appreciate when the members go out of their way to welcome every
new face--it makes ALL the difference in these people's church experience.)
They left with rides and invitations to the Relief Society activity on
Tuesday and the Primary activity on Saturday. Yay for fellowship!
Also, we were able to help in Primary to sing and play piano because Sister
Waite (the person who normally plays the piano) wasn't there. It was so fun
to sing all my favorite primary songs in Spanish. There are very few kids,
but it was fun to watch them beam with happiness throughout the class. Our
investigators about doubled the size of the Primary--so that helped!
Okay, just something super cute. We got Karolin her own scriptures (thanks
to my mom) and she brought them to Primary and was on top of everything!
Ready to read and share and hold them in the air as we sang Scripture Power
(which, by the way, is a MUCH better song in Spanish). She has only been
here about a month and she already knows more Articles of Faith than anyone
else! My grandpa would be proud!:)
Speaking of my grandpa--he would have also been excited that we found a
family from Brazil last night! We spoke in broken English, Spanish, and
Portuguese, but it was fun! They are truly prepared. They were looking for
the gospel and the spirit was so strong as we shared out faith together.
They will do best in the English ward. Hopefully we can find some people in
the English ward who learned Portuguese on their missions and they can
help! I am excited to see where it goes!:)
I finished the Book of Mormon again! I love it. Reading and studying it in
Spanish has been an incredible experience. I get so much more out of it.
LOVE SPANISH.
Lastly,
The Book of Moroni is stellar important (the last 10 chapters of the Book
of Mormon)! I never realized!! It's like all the final words and most
important things to know in a nutshell.
*"Wherefore, I write a few more things, contrary to that which I had
supposed; for I had supposed not to have written any more; but I write a
few more things, that perhaps they may be of worth unto my brethren...in
some future day, according to the will of the Lord."* Moroni 1:4
Paraphrasing, he basically just told us, "My hand's pretty sore from
engraving so much on these plates and I thought I was done, but I'm going
to write a few more things here at the end that I hadn't actually planned
to write before...my sore hand can take it--I feel these things are
important enough to bear the pain."
Obviously, these things are of utmost importance.
Check it out:
Chapter 2: Ordinance of receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost
Chapter 3: Priesthood Ordination
Chapter 4: Ordinance of the Sacrament [Bread]
Chapter 5: Ordinance of the Sacrament [Water]
Chapter 6: Expectations of Church Members and Church Attendance
Chapter 7: Faith, Hope, Charity, Prayer
Chapter 8: Don't baptize little children, Endure to the End
Chapter 9: Endure through adversity; hope in eternal blessings
Chapter 10: Book of Mormon, Spiritual Gifts, Revelation
I would say that these things would make my list of top 15 most important
things and Moroni summarizes them beautifully for us in 10 short chapters.
Challenge: Read the Book of Moroni. Reflect on the things of utmost
importance. Repent and make necessary changes:)
I love repentance and my Savior.
