I guess I didn't do my job in Lynnwood the first time, so they sent me back here! That will make a whole 1/2 my mission served in Lynnwood. Hopefully by the time I leave, I will have done what the Lord has planned...anyways! It is going to be a relatively short letter today! Firstly, my new companion: Her name is Hermana Richey. She just turned 19 recently and is from Salt Lake City, Utah. She's sweet and has desires to be a great missionary! We hope to see great success here in the next 2 transfers! Another little curve ball: when I was here in Lynnwood last time, us Hermanas covered half and the Elders covered the other half. However, we are short 3 companionships of Spanish missionaries, so I am now also covering ALL of Lynnwood. It has been an adventure trying to get to know such a large area that is all so new AND train. The Lord has great growth planned for us both I believe...we are excited to take it on!:) This week has been full of trying to meet all the people that the Elders were working with. I guess my mind repressed my experiences with Lynnwood traffic and lack of parking places...that's been a struggle..but other than that it has been great! It's been so sweet to see all the people I love here in the branch. The received me with a warm welcome, which sure made me feel loved. Great things are going to happen in the branch--I just know it!! A sweet experience from the week: I was having fun running around a trailer park that I loved to work in and was just talking to any and everyone I could. We had a contact where this guy tried to create an argument over how to know if God is a man or woman....that was crazy...but anyways, to the sweet part: We were walking away from a door and I saw in a little shed there was someone arranging and throwing wood. I continued walking away and then turned around and yelled, "hey! whatcha doin? can we talk to you for a minute!" So out comes a cute little chunky boy named Jorge. Long-story-short, we taught him about prayer. I then told him that we can feel the love of God as we pray. I asked him how he knew that his mom and dad loved him. He responded, "because they give me hugs." I then told him, you know, Jorge, you can know that God loves you too when you pray, because when you are done, if you wait, he will send his helper the Spirit and he will make it feel like God is hugging you and then you will know that God got your prayer and loves you. We taught him to pray and he offered a sweet prayer. As he did so, I prayed fervently in my heart that he would feel and recognize the Spirit and that, as I promised, it would feel like a hug from God. I prayed with faith and had no doubts that the Lord would not fulfill the promise I made to this little boy. As he finished his prayer, my heart was pounding. I paused. I then asked, "Jorge, how do you feel?" He paused and with a cute grin on his face he said, "I feel...I feel like God is hugging me." My heart immediately stopped pounding. Though it was cold and rainy outside, my insides were warm and filled with the Spirit. I knew Heavenly Father had answered both Jorge's sweet prayer as well as mine. I know that when we pray with faith, Heavenly Father will truly answer. I know that if we ask in faith, we will surely receive. I testify, as does Nephi, that the "tender mercies [including hugs] of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith..." [1 Nephi 1:20]. Challenge: Pray with more faith! Pray with the expectation that Heavenly Father really will answer your prayer, bless others, etc. He will if our faith is sufficient:) May we remember as we pray: "Of all the titles of respect and honor and admiration that are given to Diety, he has asked us to address him as Father." Have a great week! Hermana Clark Yellow for Transfers! She fell her first day... |
